I learnt to sail down at NBYC back in December 2012, before moving to Murrays Bay to start competitive sailing. I sailed Optimist, Starling and then moved into the laser radial. I sailed the radial all three years of youth competition, winning the trial in my final year and representing New Zealand at the youth worlds placing 5th overall. I’ve now moved into the senior fleet, where I am working hard to represent New Zealand at the Paris and LA Olympic Games. A base of the skills I use to this day in all elements of my sailing I learnt during my early days at NBYC. I still fondly remember my time in Learn to Sail and credit a lot of my success in this sport to the foundation I built in the waters surrounding NBYC. I’m super excited to be able to come back to NBYC and help the next generation to fall in love with the sport and learn the basic skills they need for their journey through sailing. When I’m not coaching I’m training both on and off the water while also completing an engineering degree.
